Review Magic Knight Rayearth volumes 1-6 (complete)Written by WarpshadowRating very good

Magic Knight Rayearth was chronologically the first anime review I wrote for the Anifanatikku site and after reading the manga I have a special place in my heart for that too.

A trip to Tokyo Tower would have been just another boring school trip but for Hikaru, Umi and Fuu it became much mor the moment they were transported to the world of Cephiro. Although the girls have no idea what is going on they have been summoned by Princess Emeraude to be the magic Knights who save the world of Cephiro which has been thrown into chaos by Zagaoto. the only way Hikaru, Umi and Fuu can return home is to fulfill Princess Emeraude's wish.

At first glance Magic Knight Rayearth look like a typical fantasy manga but in fact this story questions the the conventions of the genre, especially the morality of it, and does it while being a story that doesn't exist as a backdrop for a comedy. As a result this manga is a preachy at times. The artwork of the manga is very nice and worth the price of buying this manga alone. I am a big fan of the television series that was based off of this but the manga is still worth buying if you have watched it mainly because it handles the ending much more cleanly. Magic Knight Rayearth is great manga for anybody who is a fan of Fantasy, their creators (CLAMP) or just about anybody.
