Review Kannon

After an absence of seven years Yuuichi has returned to a northern town. Staying in his aunt's house while his parents are out of the country he goes to school with his cousin Naiyuki. Even though he is unaware of it this town holds many tragic memories and several mysteries. Strange things like a hair band that he didn't remember packing, a girl with no past except for a wish to gain revenge against him or spectral monsters that haunt the school at night. What could this all mean?

Kannon is based off of a dating sim of the same name. I would say that this is a very enjoyable show as it manages to flesh out the various characters even if it does meander though a bunch of subplots. Although I won't reveal anything specific the later half of the show becomes very tragic with a good share of fantastic elements to it. The strength of the show is it's emotional weight and the characters as opposed to the plot. Kannon is better than most anime shows of the genre.

Kannon has very well done animation. Although the character designs may throw some people off the animation quality is rather high for a television show being almost Oav quality. The music for the show is more subdued than most other anime shows.

Kannon is currently available only though fansubs. I have found this to be a good show that is both fun and dramatic. I give Kannon a rating of very good/ excellent.
