Review Sakura Wars Oav

It is the 1920's just after the first demon war. As a preparation for when the demons return a new weapon called spirit armor is being developed. However not everyone can use spirit armor, only a select group of girls have the ability. As a bizarre twist they girls that pilot the spirit armor also perform in the local theater for various reasons. Sakura wars is based off of a series of dating sims with the same name. This Oav is a prologue to the first game.

Sakura Wars is a nice and enjoyable four episode Oav with a mixture of battle and cute girls. The characters are interesting and the plot moves at a steady pace. The biggest flaw is that while it starts strong the ending feels inconclusive and unsatisfying. That could be a gimmick to get you to watch more (and trust me there is more Sakura wars is a pretty big franchise). It also helps if you are somewhat familiar with the games that it is based off of.

The animation quality is very good, this being an Oav. Both the character designs and the backgrounds are nicely done. There is also the catchy theme song which is the hallmark of this series.

Sakura wars is a good Oav but ultimately falls under the "I've seen better but I have also seen worse" category. If the subject matter peaks your interest you should probably watch this eventually. I give Sakura Wars a rating of good.
