Review Otaku no video

Kubo is just an ordinary college student with a normal life and girlfriend. One day he runs into an old high school friend when coming home from a bar. His friend is not just anybody but is the leader of a group of otaku. Slowly but surely Kubo is lured into the world of anime fandom. Eventually he starts neglecting other facets of his life in fact he only finds that he lost his girlfriend when he calls her to ask her to cosplay. Finally he decides to make that the focus of his life and become an Otaking.

Otaku no video is a comedic look on anime (and some other things) fandom. While this is a generally enjoyable film the more you know about older anime titles the more you will get out of it. Interspersed throughout the film there are interviews with otaku about various aspects of fandom. Although these may have been fabricated they are still funny. The best part is that if you are an otaku at all you just might see a little bit of yourself in this film.

The animation quality of Otaku no video is around average. It is otherwise unremarkable.

Otaku no video is a fun title that is specifically made for the hard-core fans of anime. While it isn't the best thing to watch when you are just starting to watch anime once you have seen a few shows and start to call yourself an anime fan you need to see this. I give Otaku no video a rating of very good.
