Review Interstella 5555 Written by Warpshadow Rating very good

The is not the type of anime show you typically see by any stretch of the imagination. It is has the feeling of some of the more experimental forms of animation but still looks like anime.

On a distant planet a quartet of aliens are a popular musical group. They unwittingly attract the attention of an evil music producer kidnaps them and takes them to earth. He wipes their memories and exploit them on earth. Meanwhile a rescuer who is fan of the group is on his way to save them. While this doesn't sound like much remember there is no dialogue in this movie.

This is a hard movie to rate or explain because it is so different from most anime shows. In essence it is an hour long music video. Little can be said of the plot or characters mainly because they never speak. None of this really matters. The movie is a simple story that moves at good pace. The animation is well done and the characters are distinctly drawn in the Leiji Matsumoto fashion. Most importantly the music which is a constant throughout the show (done by the famous techno band Daft Punk) is not only enjoyable but also fits the mood of any given scene. While it is hard to grade on a normal scale Interstella is unique in a way that you just have to see it at least once.
