Review Inu Yasha Affections touching across time Written by Warpshadow rating good/ very good

Most popular anime shows in television format eventually spawn a movie. Given the fact that Inu Yasha is massively popular the chances of there not being a movie for it were practically nil. It's a good thing it doesn't suck.

Everything starts out as normal as Inu Yasha and the rest of the gang are fighting a monster with shard of the shikon Jewel embedded in it. After the battle Kilala starts acting weird and runs off. When Sango chases after her she runs into two women and is attacked. Meanwhile Inu Yasha is attacked by a demon named Menoumaru Who has a grudge with Inu Yasha because Inu Yasha's father killed his father. When the demon kidnaps Kagome it is just the beginning of his evil plans.

The first Inu Yasha movie ultimately is a long episode of filler material but is enjoyable nonetheless. As is usual with this type of movie you really need to see the show first. Also as is usual the animation was a bit better than in the normal series. All the characters except for Kouga and Naraku get some screen time although I felt Sheshomaru's time was a bit lacking. The scenes between Inu Yasha and Kagome were really well done, especially given the limit that they movie couldn't really change things (otherwise people who haven't seen the movie would be clueless about it.) Overall the movie is about the same quality as the television series, you don't have to see it but if you are a fan of Inu Yasha you won't be disappointed.
