If there is one thing that never seems to go out of style it is shows with vampire heroes (even if they still dress like it's the 19th century). Maybe it's the lure of being the ultimate goth and you don't even have to write poetry.

There are vicious monsters who dwell in the darkness and possess humans. They are called night breeds. One man or rather one vampire has taken it upon himself to defend humanity from the night breeds. His name is Shido and he has no past. Shido has friends that help in his quest. The people who help are Yayoi is a police detective and also provides Shido with willing blood samples, Reho is a young girl who works as Shido's secretary and Guni who is an Urban fairy of sorts.

Night Walker is a twelve episode long supernatural detective drama. Except for one two part episode they are stand one in terms of plot. Given the little room the stories have to work with they do manage to be interesting and are decently written. The characters are fleshed out and character development is worked in to the show without compromising the mystery element of the show. The show would easily be more popular except for the fact it is done with a slightly archaic nineties animation style. Overall it isn't a great show but a decent one. Given that DVD of it are twenty dollars a piece and contain six episodes each it fits the bill for those with room for a spare series to watch.
