Perhaps one of the bigger reasons that anime fans tend to look down on American animation is that shows made in the US have difficulty progressing beyond the ten minute long comedy format. This format does allow for quite a bit though as shows like Galaxy Angel demonstrate.

In the far future a time earthquake that messes up the entire galaxy. The empire of Transvaal has decided to pick up the pieces. One of the military units in the empire is the Angel Brigade. The Angel Brigade is not a normal unit but an all purpose task force made up of five young women who's main purpose is to discover the lost technology. The duties of the Angel Brigade will take them to the far corners of the Galaxy where they will encounter almost anything and there is usually hilarity along the way.

Galaxy Angel is a comedy show with few pretensions of being anything else. The show is only fifteen minutes long start to finish but this is enough for the purpose of being funny. It also lets you see a twenty six episode series in only four discs. The characters are a bundle of quirks all the better to facilitate comedy. As for the comedy itself it is pretty good. The jokes are varied and generally come off well although like all shows of this nature they vary in quality. Galaxy Angel is good, light entertainment.
