Review Fake Written by Warpshadow Rating good

Although many people for some reason that escapes me like Gravitation, I am finding it is titles such as Fake which provide a better litmus test to see if someone likes the whole Yaoi scene or not. Not only is it a better title but it is shorter to boot.

Dee and Ryo are both New York cops taking a well deserved vacation in England. Dee made special care that the two of them would be alone on this vacation as he plans to advance their relationship (I think it is also important to mention that Ryo is also a guy). The excursion does not go as well as planned for Dee as some of those people that he was trying to get away from show up. More importantly a woman shows up dead in a lake and murder usually puts a damper on vacations.

Fake is a fairly decent Oav as Oavs go. The story presumes prior knowledge of the characters although I didn't find that necessary. The Oav works better as a relationship story cum character introduction story as the mystery aspect felt tacked on in parts. The characters were well developed for the time allotted to the story. In the end fake suffers from the problem that many Oavs suffer from, there is simply just not enough to it. I suggest renting this and using it to see if you like it enough to buy the manga that it was based on.
