One of odd things in anime is the constant placing of robots into shows. This is true for even cop shows.

Daisuke Aurora works for a special unit for the public safety division of the city of Judoh. What is really special though is Daisuke's partner J, the only android allowed to operate in the city. The Don of the Leonelli family has died recently leaving his rather unstable son Claire in charge. This is an interesting time for those in law enforcement but for Daisuke has his boss and brother Shun especially as their father was killed by someone connected to the Leonelli's.

A cast of quirky and interesting characters is usually not the strong point of a police action show, especially one with a robot as one of the main characters, but the case of Heat Guy J this statement is true. Perhaps the clearest example is J who speaks in a monotone voice (he is a robot after all) yet has a wealth of quotes on what constitutes the proper behavior of a man. If the show's internal logic was as solid as the characters this would be a great show but sadly this is not the case. Such inconsistencies hurt the show but fail to make it anything I would call bad. It is just a run of the mill title that has been drowned out by other titles.
