From what I know about car racing is that it is only a matter of time before they make the racers actually fight each other in order create more of the crashes that many race fans secretly love. However this innovation is pretty much the best thing about IGPX.

In the mid 21st century a new sport called the IGPX has arisen, taking racing to the next level by racing with fighting robots instead of cars. Team Satomi is the newest team to make it into the big leagues otherwise known as IGP 1. The problem for them is that they only got there on the seat of their pants and their forward Takashi hasn’t really got the idea that there is no I in team in his head yet. The question is can team Satomi pull themselves together or will they end up as scrap metal on the race track?

IGPX is a mecha show that really isn’t a mecha show and more of a sports show. The thing about it is that unlike most sport shows they invented one out of whole cloth for the purposes of whole cloth for the purposes of the show. As such the rules can seem a bit contrived at times although many of the contests are interesting enough. As for the characters they are for the most part an interesting selection of personalities and yet dropped in the middle of the show is a pretty flat main character. Overall I found this to be a decent but ultimately unremarkable show that is only worth watching if you have nothing else to do.
