Review Ergo ProxyWritten by WarpshadowRating very good

If there is one thing that I can’t get enough of it is a little mind screw in your anime. Ergo Proxy is a show is never what you think it is.

The city of Ramudo is the last refuge of humanity and is run like a clockwork paradise where people are followed about by robot assistants called auto reivs. There the regent’s granddaughter Re L Mayer works for the intelligence bureau. The lastest case she is working on a about a series of murders committed by a strange entity which might be an auto reiv infected with the cogito virus. She learns that this is not the case when she meets this monster for a moment but it runs away. What is the mystery behind this creature and what does this have to do with immigrant Vincenet Law?

Ergo proxy is a science fiction anime show that is a bit hard to categorize in other terms than that. This is probably because the creators subtly and at times very deliberately try to mess with what the average viewer might me expecting of the show. The show’s good points are it’s art style which feels very cyberpunk, and it’s appeal to the intellect. However this very appeal can make this show very confusing or even boring to more pedestrian viewers. Whether you like this show may probably depend on your taste for psychological shows, Ergo Proxy may make you think a bit but don’t depend on it for simple entertainment.
