I got to thinking about what I like about the Sakura Wars/Taisen series, and I wanted to know what everybody else liked about it.

It could be because of a favorite character, the battle system, the art style, and maybe the mixture of all of the above.
I just wanted to know what makes Sakura Wars so good for you, and to help get the ball rolling I'll start things off.
What I like about Sakura Wars is the immense amount of different choices that effect just about everything else in the game. I don't really thing that the game can really be played the same way by other people. It's a brand new experience for everyone.
So hopefully that's enough to get everybody else here posting, so that I can get options about what makes it so great.
Oh wow, there's so much to pick from that it is difficult to choose just a few. Then again, listing everything wouldn't really be good either!

I suppose what really makes the series shine for me is the characters. The world and story feel more like the backdrop for the characters rather than the other way around. And each character is someone you can care about. Now you might not have a strong preference for each of them, but there is something to like about all of them and the games always spend time developing the personalities and back-story of each character, adding all sorts of little things to give hidden depth to each of them so they are more than just mere faces or stereotypes. None of them are flawless which makes them all feel more human, more believable. If you'll pardon the stage analogy, they are all an ensemble cast with great variety and have something for every discerning audience member.
Here I am! You folks may remember me back on the Kiss Me Sweet Facebook page. How're my fellow Sakura Wars fans holding up?

Though the odds might be slim, I'm hoping for the announcement of a 20th anniversary Sakura Wars game. I'd prefer it be Sakura Taisen VI, but I'd happily accept even a remake or port!
P.S. Be sure to check out our small Sakura Wars section over at http://www.nz17.com/sakura-wars/
. It's fairly good for what it is, and I'm pretty proud of the links section.
