Be sure to keep an eye out for the August 4th and August 11th editions of the Vernal Express, the Uintah Basin Standard, and the Thrifty Shopper (A.K.A. U.B. Shoppin') for the new G.A.M. Convention classifieds! Look for the two of them in the "Miscellaneous" section of the classifieds on Tuesday of those weeks.

Of course, this isn't the first time G.A.M. has listed classifieds to advertise the convention. We've also advertised this way earlier this year, but haven't posted about it on our Web site until now. Well, as we're ramping up to the date of the convention (Only 2 weeks, 5 days to go!), it's time to post some more classifieds, so there you go!

People have been asking about what they can expect to see at G.A.M. this year. While we can't say, "This is everything that will be there as set in stone!" quite yet, we wanted to share some details with you about what we are planning on having.

More concrete details and the schedule of events will be announced as we get closer to the day of the convention. But our plan currently is:

Main Events

  • Video: Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva movie (~2 hours)
  • Discussion panel: Anime & manga around Uintah County (1 hour)
  • Video: Patlabor TV episodes (~1 hour)
  • Event: Costume showcase (cosplay display) (1 hour)
  • Discussion panel: Japanese video games & how to spot them (1 hour)
  • Video game tournament (Super Smash Bros.) (2 hours)

Concurrent Side Events

  • Video game tournament sign-ups (6 hours)
  • Video game free-play (multi-player games) (8 hours)

We are aiming for a family-friendly convention. Therefore all of the videos, panels, and games will be appropriate for most ages - everything will be rated the equivalent of PG-13 or less.

Bonus Announcement: We are proud to announce that children under ten years old will get into this year's convention... FOR FREE! That's right, there will be no need for a babysitter just because you want to go to G.A.M. Make it a family function: bring all of your family, young and old... and don't forget your friends too!

Well folks, we have sixty-one hours left in G.A.M.'s Kickstarter project's pledge period. It's make or break time!

As of the writing of this article, we have had $160 pledged thanks to our backers. That's 40% funded already! However we only have 61 hours left to go. So we need to make one last concerted collective push to get everyone we know interested. With just a few more backers, we can push our total over the edge and get to 100% funded and beyond!

So please print our flyers, share the news with your friends, family, enemies, and frenemies, post to Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace, and - if I might be so bold as to ask - increase your pledge amounts if you can!

Thanks, and game onward and upward!

P.S. There are a bunch of new posts over at the G.A.M. convention's official Web site. Be sure to check out what's there and what's new! We've gotten some swell community contributions of promotional graphics. Feel free to use them!

Hello again, everyone! (こんにちはみんなさん!) (Konnichiwa minna-san!)

I am writing to share more information with you about our GAM Convention. We plan to finance the event with a Kickstarter project page. As you might know, Kickstarter is an online crowd-funding Web site where multiple people pledge money to pool their resources to fund a project such as a convention or a creative endeavor. We plan to use it to offer pre-orders for badges and T-shirts as rewards for various pledge levels. We will also offer some of these rewards for pre-purchase on our Web site at a later date and to buy even later at the convention itself. But of course, these later options are riding on whether or not our Kickstarter project meets its initial funding goal.

So if you want to make sure you get what you want, become a backer of our Kickstarter project when it goes live in the next few days! Right now we are applying the final polish to our KS page, but soon - oh so soon - it will launch and then you all can read every exciting detail.

Times are getting thrilling as we approach the minute of the launch of our Kickstarter project and we hope you can feel the tingle of electricity in the air! The success of this Kickstarter fund-drive will determine the future of the G.A.M. Convention! To quote Street Fighter Alpha 3, "Go for broke - triumph or die!" Truly, it is make or break time for G.A.M. We hope to see you on Kickstarter soon!
