Review Tenchi Muyo Oav 1&2Written by WarpshadowRating very good/ excellent

If there is one thing I have learned from fan fiction is that if you leave a story unfinished, about a hundred else will try to complete it on their own. It’s great yet unfinished nature is why it spawned such a franchise.

Although he was told not to by his grandfather to enter the cave behind the shrine, curiosity got the better of Tenchi Masaki. In the cave he found a hilt of a sword and a mummy before running out. Later at school he finds that the mummy (who now has her original shape back) has tracked him down and wants to kill him. After a long chase Tenhi finds out that the sword hilt is more powerful than he thought and subdues Ryoko (the name of the mummy). After the incident Ryoko follows him home, and that is only the beginning of his problems.

Tenchi Muyo is considered by many to be the originator of the harem type comedy anime show. That statement is a bit misleading as not only are their earlier works but it also writes the characters off as simpler than they really are. The characters in Tenchi Muyo are not only fun but also complex as they play off of each other as much or even more than the main character. The plot is very tight as various events refer to each other and things connect better than in most anime shows. If there was only a solid ending I would be tempted to say that the Oav was near perfect. Even as is Tenchi Muyo is a must for any Otaku worth his salt.
