Review Whisper of the HeartWritten by WarpshadowRating very good

Even a slow and quiet movie can be good. While this movie lacks some of the punch that I have seen in some other movie this good for those looking for a change of pace.

Shizuku is a young girl who loves to read books and write alternate lyrics to songs. One day she notices that a person name Seiji Amisawa has checked out many of the books that she had and wonders what kind of person he could be. One day she finds an antique shop and encounters two things that change her life forever, an statue of a cat wearing a tuxedo and boy who irritates Shizuku but turns out to be Seiji.

Whisper of the heart is a rather sedate movie about a girl finding her way in life. The pacing of the movie and the general slice of life nature of it is what will drive a wedge between those who love it and those who don’t. The movie is somewhat slow but not to the point of being difficult to watch by anyone but the most attention span deprived of viewers. While the characters do seem a bit common they still feel developed and interesting enough to carry the movie. The animation is very nicely done especially the writing sequences that happen later in the movie. While this film is sort of mediocre by Ghibli standards (which is pretty darn high) this is still a very nice movie.
