Anime Review: Eiken

Fan service can be a welcome extra to a good show or a bit of plaster to cover the cracks of a mediocre one. However all the fan service in the world couldn't save a stinking, dung pile like Eiken.

Densuke Mifune is a typical (for anime shows especially of this genre) junior high student who goes to the gigantic Zashono academy. For some reason he is selected to join the Eiken club. What is known about the Eiken club is that many of it's members have large breasts including Chiharu Shininome who Densuke has a crush on. Densuke wishes to buy a present for Chiharu as her birthday is coming up and in order to win money the Eiken club is entering an annual school contest.

Eiken is a hour long session of stupid fan service. I try to make these reviews a bit more complex but honestly that is all there is to Eiken. While some fan service is tolerable or even good Eiken handles this all wrong. It stems from two problems. First there is no real story other than a vague structure made to prop up the fan service. To call the cast a collection of stock characters is an insult to stock characters. Secondly the fan service isn't even good fan service. While the girls supposedly have large breasts they are so large and frankly not breast-like that they stop being sexy. While there may be many, many shows better than Eiken I would have to wrack my brain to think of anything worse.
