Review 801 TTS AirbatsWritten by WarpshadowRating fair/ good

Over the years I have reviewed many Oavs that are forgettable and mediocre. This is just another one of them.

When Takuya Isarugi has joined the self defense force he wanted to serve his country in an important way. What happened though was that he was attached to the 801st squadron, a squadron of female acrobat pilots which is known as the defense force dumping ground. As is natural in anime he starts off on the wrong foot but ends up in a clumsy pseudo romance with a couple of the pilots. Also since it is considered to be a worthless unit the squadron also has to fend off attempts from the higher-ups to disband the unit.

801 tts Airbats is a fairly generic comedy Oav which look like it was made in the early nineties when such Oavs were common. As such beyond a couple of setup and romantic half measures nothing really happens beyond the usual wacky hijinks. Just because the majority of the cast are fighter pilots don’t expect any but the bare minimum of mid air action in this Oav. It isn’t that this Oav is terrible; any non recommendation of it stems from that it has a lack of originality that makes it unworthy of anything more than a random rental to stave off severe boredom.
