Review Martian successor Nadesco Prince of Darkness Written by Warpshadow Rating Very good

Another movie designed milk the popularity of an anime show? Yes it is but it seems that Nadesco is a really good cow, speaking metaphorically. Feel free to watch this one.

It has been two years since the war between the Earth and Jupiter that occurred in the television series. It also has been nearly two years since Akito and Yurika died in a shuttle accident. The two sides are in an uneasy peace and the technology of Boson jumping is being utilized for public use under the Hisalgo company. As luck would have it the Hisalgo company is attacked and then taken over by resentful factions of the Jovian lizards that have dubbed themselves the Martian successors. It looks like a job for the Nadesco, now under the leadership of Ruri Hoshino.

This movie in many ways is a great ending to the Nadesco franchise. It is fun to see the cast and see what they did after the war and the various cameos are really fun for fans of the show. The movie also contains much of the spirit of the show, right down to a scene where the villains are reading shojo manga. The animation is much better as well, this being a major motion picture and all. The treatment of the main characters, especially Akito (man they sure changed his character), leaves something to be desired. Some things in the show were tied up nicely but other remain, or are even created (see Akito) by this movie. Even so if you like the television show at all this movie should be on your viewing list.
