Review Love Hina Christmas special written by warpshadow rating good/ very good

Even with what I feel is a botched ending I feel that this is still the high point of the Love Hina Franchise. If you liked the television series at all you should definitely see this one.

In Japan Christmas eve is a very important day for romance. It is even said that if you profess your love on that day your wishes will come true. At the Hinata inn it is going to a very special day since Keitaro and Naru have unspoken feelings for each other. Things start to pick up when while searching people's rooms for presents Suu and Sara find a letter that Naru had written with the word love in it. While this promises to be a momentous day the course of true love never does run smoothly, especially in comedies.

The Love Hina television series concluded without much being resolved. This special hopes to change that. I found it to be the high point of the show as several things do get sorted out and the over-reliance on Naru hitting Keitaro for laughs is played down. The animation (as is usual for these types of things) is a bit better than the rest of the show. The main sticking point for me is the ending. Depending on how you look at things there is two endings. The first one that takes place at midnight is great and would have been a perfect ending for the show, however the powers that be threw in an epilogue that ruins the whole thing. If it wasn't for the real ending I would have given this a higher rating.
