Review Grrl Power AKA Makasete Iruka! Written by Warpshadow Rating good

Grrl power is a one shot Oav by the famed anime director Akitaro Daichi (Elf Princess Rane, Fruits Basket). Not only was the show made by him it was also independently produced.

There are three girls that live by the Shonan beach. Their names are Umi, Sora and Ao. They have no parents so in order to make ends meet and to buy their dream island they have set up an odd jobs service. One day they receive a job from a distraught mother. She asks the three girls to convince her son to return to school. This given job presents a special problem because the girl's themselves don't go to school. In fact the boy is so taken with their lifestyle that he decides to join them. Grrl power is a nice and short One episode series. The show mostly centers around comedy and how the three girls try to get the boy back into school. Even so there is some touching moments are added to the story. The characters are a bit shallow, although I did find Ao, who was hearing impaired to be an interesting and is portrayed in a realistic manner. With all of these good things about the show I still can not recommend it. The main reason for this is that with only twenty five minutes to the whole show there isn't enough material to justify buying it. Were it the first episode of a longer series I would say differently (not that future material would be unwelcome). If given the chance to watch it for free that would be an entirely different matter.
