Review Record of Lodoss War Chronicles of the Heroic Knight Written by Warpshadow Rating good/ very good

Complain all you want about it not being as good as the Oav. If you want to see the whole story animated you are going to have to watch this.

It has been five years since the war of heroes that took the life of many including the brave dwarf Ghim. One man Ashram desires the scepter of domination which would upset the fragile peace that has settled over Lodoss. Parn who now known as the free knight of Lodoss will certainly not stand for this. What could be even a bigger problem than Ashram is shooting star, the dragon that guards the scepter of domination. Later in the series there is also a story arc involving new character not seen in the Oav.

It is a good thing that there is a more complete animated version of Record of Lodoss war than the space of an Oav will allow. Yet this show falls apart in two places. The first is that the animation quality is not that great. The second is the fact that it starts in the middle of the story necessitating that the viewer watch either the Oav or read the manga to understand a couple of points. These things keep this show from being a classic like the oav but Chronicles of the Heroic Knight is still good fun, especially if you like a bit of serious fantasy (and even then every episode is followed by a welcome to Lodoss island segment which is a parody).
