Review Mahoraba heartiful days Written by Warpshadow Rating very good/ excellent

Romantic comedies designed for men often have a bad rep in the anime world. While this is often well deserved there are good titles that fall under the genre as well. Mahoraba is one of these.

When Ryushi Shiratori leaves home to go to art school he moves into an apartment complex recommended by his mother. He is immediately smitten by the young girl who works as the landlord of the place Kozue Aoba. Kozue is a nice and caring girl with one important secret, she actually has five personalities. Winning the heart of the girl of his dreams may be far more difficult than Shiratori thought since not only does he have to deal with Kozue's mood swings but also the eccentric tenants of Narutakisou.

Although Mahoraba bears many superficial similarities to other romantic comedy anime shows it transcends many of the faults that plague the genre. The show dispenses with the fan service and instead relies on comedy and strength of characters to carry the show. As for the characters themselves, Mahoraba sports a large cast of quirky and often unique characters. The works well at being endearing as many episodes are devoted to fleshing out the characters. Other than some cliff hangers and a couple of multi-episode arcs there is no overall plot. Even with some minor warts the show is a cut above most others and one that I most heartily recommend.
