Sailor Moon is a show with it’s ups and downs. While this particular season is widely considered the best of the bunch (and I would agree with that) it still isn’t something that a non Sailor Moon fan would like.

Usagi and her friends thought they would have some peace and quiet while they study for the high school entrance exams but they couldn’t be more wrong. Rei has a dream of the world ending and soon after a monster attacks her. This monster is more powerful the previous ones that the Sailor Senshi have fought and even Sailor Moon’s attack fail to stop it. Two new Sailor Senshi appear to defeat the monster before leaving. Who could they be and how are they connected to this new threat?

This is the prototypical magical girl anime show and contains just about all the ups and downs that the genre has to offer. On the down side the show is plagued by weak monster of the week type fights which are usually not fun and just eat up time in the show. Small upsides can be found in the Sailor Chibi moon (pink sugar heart is ridiculous but funny at the same time) and near the end of the season when conflicts become more dramatic. The other parts of the show are far more enjoyable being populated by a cast of interesting characters, especially the conflicts arising from the new Sailor Senshi. It would be unfair to say that most of the show is filler since even in most mundane episode moves the plot forward incrementally. Although this is still not a great show it is still very much worth watching by fans of the genre.
