Review Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex 2nd gigWritten by WarpshadowRating very good/ excellent

Usually sequels tend to be not as good as the original season of a show but in the case of Ghost In The Shell the reverse is true in that the sequel is actually an improvement.

Given the nature of crime it would be foolish to think that there would be no more threats after the laughing man incident. A new menace rears it’s head when a group of terrorists held the Chinese embassy hostage. They call themselves the individual eleven and they claim to have done this to protest the situation with the many refugees that live in Japan. While initial challenge is thwarted there still is the lingering question of who is pulling the strings behind the Individual Eleven, a thorny question in an age where the group itself might not know.

Like just about any second Season of a show watching previous material is probably in order although except for some references to the laughing man case it isn’t all that necessary. What is more important though is how it stands up to not only the first season but anime in general. I would say that it is an improvement on the first seasons and the main reason for this is that this season is more focused. This is true not only of the plot but also of the more philosophical aspects of the show are focused on a single set of topics as opposed to the series of science fiction what ifs of the first season. In short if you like Ghost In The Shell or science fiction AT All you should watch this show.
