Like any franchise Slayers has spawn a couple of movies. Too bad Naga can’t carry the weight three other characters did in the tv series.

Lina Inverse is a famous sorceress, or infamous if you happen to be a bandit. She travels the land searching for enough money to feed her bottomless appetite while right a few wrongs along the way. One day she runs across one of her rivals, a rather busty wizard who goes by the name of Naga the White Serpent. With two discount tickets in hand Naga drags Lina along for a hot springs trip on Mipross island. All is not peaceful on Mipross as there is not only the usual troupe of quite flammable villains but also a deeper problem hinted by dreams of the past that Lina experiences every night. Does Lina have the magical might necessary to set this problem right?

Slayers is one of the premier fantasy franchises in the anime world and thus it is quite natural that it would spawn franchise movies. Compared to the Slayers stories that many fans are used to this movie is a bire bare in the comedy department as Lina’s entourage is paired down from the usual gang of Gourry, Zelgadis and Amelia to just Naga. The animation is a bit better than is usual for the Slayers Television series which is usually the selling point of franchise movies. In fact other than the cast this is a fairly textbook example of a franchise movie right down to the plot which feels like a long episode. This is a fairly mediocre movie that is most suitable for a rental and most definitely not the high point of the franchise.
