Review Macross FrontierWritten by WarpshadowRating very good/ excellent

Many people loved Macross in the past and this show is not only a very worthy update to that legacy but also a very fun show in it’s own right.

In the years following the catastrophic war between the Earth and the Zentradi a plan to ensure the future of humanity was enacted by seeding to galaxy with human colonies. These colonies are founded huge city sized ships like the Macross Frontier. There is everything in these ships including celebrities like the famous singer Sheryl Nome. One day while going to a Sheryl concert stunt pilot Alto Saotome and resteraunt employee Ranka Lee not only have a fateful encounter but also come under attack from an insectoid alien race known as the Vajra. That incident was the start of many things including relationships and careers that those involved could scarcely even guess at.

Macross Frontier is the latest installment of the popular Macross franchise but fortunately this show doesn’t expect prior knowledge but has enough references to reward long time fans. This is show with a sizable animation budget, enough to really pull off the fight pilot combat that is a staple of Macross. All of the other Macross staples are there as well including a vibrant slew of romantic relationships and a very enjoyable soundtrack with numerous catchy pop tunes. The plot is a bit loose in the beginning but a lot of it is character building. As for my opinion I think would should watch this show all the way through as this show’s climax is really something.
